A Feline Valentine
They were sneaky little kitties,Pretending to be asleep all night,
They peeked underneath their eyelids,
Waiting until the time was just right.
In the early hours of morning,
They rose before the sun,
And slipped from under the sheets,
For they had a lot of work to be done.
They pussy-footed around the bed,
And crept to the creaky stairs,
They strapped on little white parachutes,
And in 1,2,3, they took to the air.
Merlot and Pillow tucked and rolled,
Right across the floor,
Not making a single sound,
Just like they planned weeks before.
They went into the kitchen,
Away from anyone to disturb,
And fired up the stove,
Because they had a special breakfast to serve.
Merlot replaced his chute,
With a white fluffy chef's hat,
And Pillow laced on an apron,
That said, "Kiss the Cookin' Kitty-cat."
Pillow fetched the eggs,
And tossed them in the pan,
But he got in a few shells,
That Merlot fished out with his furry little hand.
When the eggs were all done,
It was time for the bacon,
Merlot fried up a few strips,
Nice, hot and crisp, jus' like momma liked 'em.
Pillow got some oranges,
And a tall crystal glass,
He began pouncing up and down on the fruits,
Until he slipped and almost broke his furry ass.
They mixed and stirred,
Until all was perfect and on a tray,
Now it was upstairs to the momma,
Two kitties with breakfast and a rose bouquet.
They made the first step,
The first it would be of many,
And Pillow started to sweat,
Because his side started leaning.
They made a few more stairs,
On their way to the top,
But the tray got too heavy for Pillow,
And their special breakfast began to rock.
First went the roses,
And then the food tray,
All went tumbling down the stairs,
Making quite a noise and leaving their plans in disarray.
Daddy rose from his slumber,
And rushed to the creaky stairs,
Where he found a huge mess,
And two kitties with faces full of tears.
"It's ruined!" cried Pillow.
"The eggs the bacon, everything we made.
"What can we do for momma now.
"We have nothing for her on Valentine's Day!"
"It's ok," said Daddy,
As he picked up the sobbing cats,
"We still have some time,
"I know where we can get some breakfast at."
Momma's three boys left early that morning,
In search of breakfast for a queen,
And when they got back they kissed her awake,
With breakfast in a bag, that said Burger King.
